About Southern Energy Management
Southern Energy Management is a firm believer in the power of businesses to affect positive change in the world, and they're committed to working toward that goal each and every day. They believe that what you do is important, and also just as important is how you do it. Founded in 2001 by Bob and Maria Kingery, Southern Energy Management employs about 50 full-time team members, including nationally certified solar technicians and energy raters, licensed electricians, engineers and plumbers, and other industry professionals.
We became a B Corp because we wanted to be part of the growing community of business leaders that use their influence to create a positive societal impact.
Since 2001, Southern Energy Management has created and sustained over 50 clean energy jobs contributing to our local economies and supporting the growth of NC and SC as leaders in the sustainable energy industry in the Southeast. They offer a wide array of services including: Energy Star and green building consulting and verification and solar system design, installation and commissioning for residential customers; Energy audits, benchmarking, performance testing, diagnostics and Energy Star consulting as well as turn-key solar system design, engineering, project development, installation and project management for commercial, governmental, and military customers.
The Change We Seek
At Southern Energy Management we seek to curb the emissions that are contributing to global climate change by building a strong triple bottom line enterprise.
• All combined, our work in 2008 offset more than 73,580,333 lbs of CO2, which is equivalent to planting 5,660,025 trees
• Served as primary contractor for a 1-megawatt solar array at SAS in Cary, NC, and also for a 1-megawatt solar array at QVC, in Rocky Mount, NC; these are now two of the largest solar systems in the Southeast
• Partnered with more than 250 home builders and developers to help certify more than 1,700 Energy Star and green-certified homes and neighborhoods across NC
• Installed more than 11,000 solar panels, producing approximately 2,750,000 kilowatt hours of clean energy
