Three SistaÕs was established in 2011 by Janet Guthrie and Stuart Wright and commenced operations in May 2012. Stuart & Janet have extensive backgrounds within housing and homelessness and Indigenous Health and identified the need to put back into the community due to what appeared to be decades of failure in the homelessness space in Cairns.

Three SistaÕs purchased the management rights to a rundown budget resort, with the aim of converting the 68 unit facility into a holistic and culturally appropriate short- medium accommodation facility for families and individuals within the homelessness stream. Three SistaÕs has two arms Ð asocial enterprise and a registered non-profit foundation.

The mission statement of Three SistaÕs is to contribute to the long term well-being of socially disadvantaged and Indigenous people living in the homelessness stream in the Cairns and Cape York regions by improving health and living standards, accommodation and employment opportunities. This holistic model aims to broker access to health and social services in order to provide a dedicated model of support that empowers individuals and families to re- enter the broader community in a meaningful way under a private model of investment partnering with government in models of social equity.
