Jones Food Company designs, builds and operates world-scale vertical farms, leading the next generation of British agriculture. Vertical farming is a method of controlled environment agriculture (CEA) which grows food indoors, exclusively using LED lighting, on vertical layers stacked from floor to ceiling. Vertical farming allows JFC to grow huge amounts of delicious food using far fewer resources than traditional agriculture. We can reduce water, land usage and food miles all by up to 95%, grow using renewable energy and completely remove the need for chemical pesticides. Our farms also create a local growing alternative to an increasingly import-based food system. Now crops can be grown locally 365 days a year, no matter the weather, re-establishing the connection between us and the food we eat. JFC has been actively supplying the British supermarket supply chain for over four years and in this time we have implemented huge efficiency improvements to our flagship site in North Lincolnshire. Our short term goals are to launch more world class farms throughout the UK and beyond, building on the progress we have made thus far with the ultimate goals of operating carbon negative vertical farms and reducing our food system’s reliance on imported food.
