Andrew Kassoy, Katie Hill, and Janine Guillot step into new Board roles

With the new year, B Lab Global is welcoming new leadership on our Board of Directors.

After more than a decade of service, Debra Dunn, Lorene Arey, and Ommeed Sathe concluded their terms in December 2023, laying the groundwork for this planned transition. 

Debra, who had served as Board Chair, passed the torch to two new Co-Chairs: Andrew Kassoy, a B Lab co-founder; and Katie Hill, former Executive Director of B Lab UK and B Lab Europe. They are joined by Janine Guillot, who was appointed to the Board in April, and will now become Vice Chair.

“I’m so grateful to Debra, Lorene, and Ommeed for their decades of combined service as we built B Lab, the Global Network, and the broader B Corp movement,” said incoming Co-Chair Andrew Kassoy. “B Lab was built to address mounting social and environmental challenges by changing the economic system. Thanks to their leadership and their collaboration with a constellation of leaders throughout our network, B Lab has continued to grow and is well positioned to meet the moment.”

Andrew co-founded B Lab with Jay Coen Gilbert and Bart Houlahan in 2006, with the vision to make business a force for good, after having spent 16 years in the private equity industry. He is a Board Member of Echoing Green, received the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship and the McNulty Prize, and recently was awarded a Bellagio Residency by the Rockefeller Foundation. He is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute.

Katie has moved between policy work with European and UK governments and NGOs, impact investment, and social enterprises throughout her career. A co-founder of the EU Interdependence Coalition, she led B Lab UK and then B Lab Europe, helping them build engaged and growing communities that are now thousands of B Corps strong. In addition to B Lab Global, she is a board member with the Thirty Percy Foundation and Global Action Plan.

Janine joined B Lab Global’s Board in April, bringing substantial expertise in both standards-setting and financial services. Her previous leadership roles with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Value Reporting Foundation (VRF), and the IFRS Foundation give her a unique and deep perspective to inform B Lab’s ongoing work to evolve its own standards. Her leadership at the intersection of sustainability, accounting, and finance has been recognized by Business Insider's 100 People Transforming Business list. In addition to B Lab Global, she serves on the Board of the International Foundation for Valuing Impacts.

A 501(c)3 nonprofit, B Lab Global is helping to build a movement of people using business as a force for good. The Global team creates standards, policies, tools, and programs to shift the behavior, culture, and structure of capitalism. B Lab Global works in close partnership with a global network of B Lab and Sistema B organizations that power the B Corp community at the local level. B Lab Global’s Board of Directors governs the organization’s work and oversees advisory councils, including those which govern B Lab’s standards. The Board’s Governance Committee is in the early stages of planning the recruitment and nomination of a new cohort of Board members to fill additional seats.
