Working Groups are engaged to support the development of industry- or topic-specific recommendations to B Lab’s Standards Advisory Council. Below are previous working groups along with a description of the specific standards they advised on, the dates they were developed, and those who participated.
B Lab believes in shifting the behavior, culture, and structure of capitalism — that business can and should be a force for good. Multinational companies are a necessary part of this vision; many are interested in B Corp Certification and in helping to accelerate the economic systems change movement. However, due to their more complex operating and governance standards, multinational companies are often challenged to apply B Lab’s performance standards and meet the legal requirement for certification.
To address this challenge, in 2016 B Lab established the Multinationals and Public Markets Advisory Council, a multi-stakeholder advisory body tasked with recommending a meaningful, manageable path to certification for multinational companies. The Multinationals and Public Markets Advisory Council consisted of two working groups to develop recommendations, stakeholder commenters, and company testers.
